Corey Glover has never been just a frontman—he’s been a force. Since breaking out with Living Colour in the late ’80s, his voice has carried an almost architectural clarity: pliable, explosive, steeped in soul. That lineage comes into sharp focus with The Soul Experience, his current project and a kind of homecoming. “This music is the foundation of my gift,” Glover says. “If it weren’t for singing along to these songs in my parents’ car, I would’ve never discovered what I could do.”
The setlist he’s assembled reflects that origin story—beloved soul classics, overlooked B-sides, and sharp, lived-in cuts from both his solo career and the Living Colour catalog. Around him, a rotating cohort of musicians with R&B pedigrees (Sam Moore, Mavis Staples, Bettye LaVette, Solomon Burke, and others) keeps the sound loose but grounded, drawing on the deep well of groove-based American music without drifting into nostalgia.
