Formed in 2016 as a loose combination of friends and bandmates who were all products of the Columbian diaspora, Combo Chimbita is a group of first-generation New Yorkers who brought their own distinct, cultural flair to Brooklyn's fertile music scene. Known for their blend of psychedelic rock, cumbia rhythms, Afro-Caribbean traditions, and freeform jazz influences, the only way to categorize their wide-array of hip-swerving and head-bopping sounds is "tropical futurism." They effortlessly represent their Columbian roots while infusing contemporary New York beats with Afrocentric appreciation.
