Axons, Marieken Cochius’s first solo exhibition at Garrison Art Center, runs August 16–September 14, 2025, with a public reception Saturday, August 16, 5–7 PM. Featuring welded steel sculptures and works on paper, the show draws on energy patterns in nature—root systems, water currents, and neural pathways. Cochius uses a welder like a drawing tool, forming wire into intricate structures that cast dynamic shadows. Her paper works, with dendrite-like pencil marks and glassine collage, mirror the textures and forms of the metal pieces, exploring growth, movement, and communication in the natural world. Artist Talk: Sun., Aug. 24, 2 - 3 PM
