From the dimly lit corners of a Brooklyn strip club comes Anora (played by rising star Mikey Madison). She’s a bold, charismatic heroine who doesn’t shy away from giving lap dances or working as an escort. When a young 21-year-old Russian admirer falls for her and proposes marriage, Anora seizes the opportunity to secure her future. But when his wealthy oligarch parents find out about their newlywed son, they send their local thugs, led by Karren Karagulian (a frequent Sean Baker collaborator), to put an end to this sex-and-drugs-fueled fake love story.
