DESCRIPTION:Most concert halls don't come with limestone walls and an underground pond. On July 26 at 3pm\, bass clarinet virtuoso Marianne Gythfeldt performs inside Rosendale's Widow Jane Mine\, where the cave's natural acoustics become part of the program. The recital includes the world premiere of Kerhonkson composer Jason Eckardt's "Eastern Hemlock\," inspired by one of the Catskills' defining tree species and its ecological history\, alongside Jo Kondo's "New Buds on the Elderberry Tree." Bring a folding chair and a sweater—the mine stays a cool 65 degrees year-round. Tickets are available on a sliding scale at the door\, making this one of the region's most unusual classical music experiences.
